Residual Alkalinity Calculator

This calculator is written in Javascript, and incorporates the formulas and spreadsheet design by John Palmer on his site http://www.howtobrew.com. You can access his original Excel spreadsheet at that site.

I have designed this so that whenever you enter a value in an input field the entire set of calculated values will recalculate. I have made a few changes to the design and layout that John created ... they are listed below:

The cells with yellow background are editable ... the white background cells are calculated values. For the target and source profiles, you can select from the drop down lists or type in the specific values. If you want to enter your own values, you must select the 'Enter Values' option from the dropdown ... otherwise the code will use the values for the selected profile. When you enter values, as you move to the next field the values are recalculated.

Lastly, if you use this and discover any problems, please send me an email detailing your issue so that I can try to fix it... Problem Report.

Step 1: Enter Target Beer color. It will show the low and high ranges, and average of Residual Alkalinity for the beer color. The average will be used as the Target RA.

Step 2: Select the target water profile (enter the values if profile is not listed). Watch the RA and Low/High SRM as you enter values to be sure they fall within the desired range.
